I hope to do another murder mystery game this year! Theme: Superheroes.

There's quite a few parts in it, so if it works out schedule-wise like last year, that's be beautiful. If scheduling absolutely crashed and burns, then whatever, it didn't cost me very much to get it and it can be used in the future!

So all I have to find out now is who can come and when we could have it. Any ideas/constraints?

So the Comic Con wrapped up last Sunday, and it was quite awesome! It was at the Convention Centre this year, but to me it almost felt like it was too big. At the Victoria Inn last year, it had kind of a more laid back feeling, the anime and gaming rooms were actual rooms and not open areas surrounded by yellow fencing. Also, I think the panels last year were more interesting. There were ones hosted by actors, comic companies, dress makers, etc. whereas this year it was mainly "Lou Ferrigno at 3 on the mainstage". But they did have martial arts demos this year, those were cool from the quick glimpse we got.

There were also a lot of cool costumes (most of these are from facebook). A couple of Spideys, Emma Frost, a Night Elf, Doctor Girlfriend(no Dr. Mrs. The Monarch there though), the ever present Bobba Fett, a couple of Harley Quinns, some guy whose custom costume was made from hot tub jets, Captain Canuck and the Riddler, a Predator, and tons of cute little kids.

And that's not even including the costume contest. Yours truly made an appearance and won Novice 1st. Princess Aurora got 2nd Journeyman, the "Slaughter You World guy for 1st Journeyman, and freakin Ghost Rider got Best in Show. The judges were a couple of comic artists and John De Lancie. Cory wowed him with his pretty gams and sparkley smile, so that's why we won.

We met up later with Rorshach and fought some crime. It was good stuff.

I made Cory's costume with tons of drinking straws sewn in under the fabric. It gave it a really flexible yet sturdy feeling. His mask is from Fwegga leather design, I made the shoulder pad out of sculpey and tons of epoxy and slapped some sale belts onto the front. Hockey pads for his knees and shins, volleyball pads for his elbows. I stole yellow fabric from my divorce dress, bought a perfect belt and pair of boots, and had my hair stylist cut and dye my hair. We did not dress up the next day, we stuck with our more comfortable secret identities.

We wasted much money on collectible junk that we opened as soon as we got home. Red Son President Superman for Cory, anime Wonder Woman figure for me. There were so many vendors that it was hard to keep your purse strings tight. And the artists had tons of great stufffor sale. I'll hopefully be having a table next year.

Lou Ferrigno and special guest star his HUGE ARMS were there. Lois and Green Arrow popped by to save the day. De Lancie's head also made its way around. The music at the Ghost Busters's car was on a loop, and drove us insane. Levar Burton showed up on Sunday and had a huge line up in front of his booth.

All in all, it was quite awesome. Come next year!!!!

There will totally be more pics to come from the Con, I'll post them up later this weekend.

But we may or may not have won 1st place in our class for the costume contest. Just maybe.

p.s.- Happy birthday Jeremy!!!!

Ew ew ew. So they're doing a new Street Fighter movie. Why? I have no idea. But I'm pretty sure if Lana Lang is in it, she'll fuck everything up for everyone else.

But on a note of coolness, Ryan Reynolds is Deadpool in the new Wolverine movie. Huzzah!

Also, sometime next week we're setting up for an art show for the drawing/painting majors, I'll update when I know more. I'm trying to get some stuff in, and it'll be downtown around the exchange district.

Woot! Finally done Christmas with my family, now I get to work Boxing Day. Back to planning the party and tidying up.

I have planned for the entrees Clam Chowder and Salad. I have enough supplies to make the chowder, it'd be great if someone could help out and bring a couple bags of salad. I've got salmon here and think it'd be real nice in the salad, I've got a couple of bottles of dressing bought already, and a big salad bowl too.

I'm fixing to make a cold pasta salad tossed with garlic sundried-tomato mix, a hot rice dish w/ shrimp, and a white cream sauce seafood lasagna. If anyone wants to bring other stuff to eat, that'd be great! Show off how good a creative cook you are. Laura's got dip and punch, Tom may bring apple cider. Even it someone brings something simple like cheese and kubasa, it's all good.

We also have chips, dip and other snacks to get us through the night. I've still got a few other things to pick up for the party decoration wise, along with maybe renting a few stools/chairs from Party Stuff. Bringing some mix and booze is also good, that way we all get a bit of variety instead of drinking Red Dragons and Fort Garry Dark all night long. I think I'll make a big bowl of spiked jello too.

Also, we're very willing to put up people for the night... but we've got limited spare beds and couches, so bring blankets and/or sleeping bags if you want. Michele's left a few blankets and pillows here she hasn't taken yet, so we'll steal those too. If people snore loud, you have my permission to poke them and roll them over ;D

We'll set up the video games after the dinner is done downstairs, and try to keep the majority of loud partying down there, so our noise won't be heard too much. Video games w/ the 360 or Wii and maybe watching movies/ playing drinking games will be encouraged. If anyone wants to bring a board game or something, that's great.

I've tried to send a message a couple of times to Trevor because he lives so close, but I don't know if he's gotten them. If you talk with him, let him know he's invited.

Also, please be gentle on Brian if he's there. We want to keep the bathroom open, remember.

New Dark Knight and Hellboy trailers are up. Coolness!

I just want to make sure everyone's received their invitations, with exception of Steeves (I'm mailing it tomorrow, Stupid Staples took a while to understand what I wanted regarding the invitation), and Laura (your mom should have yours). Go the cheap way with making the costume, scouring thrift shops and dollar stores is great to find stuff. I've seen a couple dollar stores already that have cheap pirate packs in the kids section with daggars and guns.

Mailing out

Email me your addresses ASAP so I can send out the invitations. Laura, I have your mom's address... she sent something to Jon in the mail, so I'll look off the envelope.

If you have any ideas for food, that would be awesome. So far, I have planned salad and soup (chowder? won tons?) for starters, and snacks to nibble on throughout the game/evening. Supper would probably entail fish of some kind, with a rice pilaf w/dill and shrimp. Dessert, who knows... I'll look up some recipes online for ideas. Again, if anyone wants to bring anything, that'd be awesome, I don't want to overly break the bank on this party lol All I can say is, good thing my loan's coming in soon!

So... Pirate's Party on New Years, that's the date I want to set. We all usually hang anyway that day, so why not?

I had planned on Michele and Brian being moved out by then, but it looks like that's not going to happen. So they may be here for the party, even though I have not planned any parts for them. Their stuff will still be here too, which means... I'll try to stuff some of it in the storage room.

We've bought Guitar Hero, and will probably have another controller by Christmas, so we can rock out with that after.

If Jeremy can confirm anything at all, that'd be great.

Supper would be around 6, I'd say... the game is to take place over, I think, a 3 course meal. I won't have a part, I'll be serving and preparing, but still sitting down and eating with you guys.

So, around Halloween, I'm not going to be here... I'm off in Chicago for an art field trip, but we leave on Monday the 29th. The Saturday and Sunday before that, me and Cory will be heading to the Manitoba Comic-Con to look around at the cool stuff there, Margot Kidder just got added as a guest there, as well as the original Boomer from BS:G. Nerdfest for all! We also going to the Masquerade Ball, I've just got to get started on Cory's costume and will hopefully my Catwoman one done by then (I'm too unskilled to do a bodysuit, so I'm getting it done by someone else), I'm buying tickets for the stuff probably after I'm done with this. Michelle and Brian will probably come, if anyone else would like to, let me know! And get your tickets soon! :D
